COLOR OF FATE; Sour Honey
SCARLET
Yesterday
I didn't arrive at Kat's house; I went home when I was a few yards from his.
Getting home I had just crawled into my bed & slept. The following morning
I was woken up by noise. It seemed like Twanda was already awake hence the
noise. He always makes noise during weekends & nobody can stop him &
not that I'm complaining, we have the same taste. I walked outside & he was
cleaning the car singing along.
All I get is money talking hundred, hundred,
hundred
My city say I run it 'cause I never
ever fumble
Every time I stay up make the pretty
women love me
I can be a poet, be your homie, be your
plumber
Sunset summer, all black pull up
I got more gas in the H3 hummer
I'm baked up really, gorilla or a
grizzly
Landed, let’s get it, on the way to sea
with Larry
Let's get it, let's get it
This shit 'bout repetition
The
way he was dancing was enough to make me laugh. He finally turned & looked
at me.
Me:
who taught you how to dance like overcooked chicken?
Him:
mxm… mom left for the funeral, she says you should land for support.
Me:
later.
Him:
let's go buy bread, I'm hungry.
Me:
The heck? You were waiting for me all along? What if I didn't wake up?
Him:
you did, that’s the main line
Me:
Michelle?
Him:
Went out to the neighbour's houses.
I
walked back inside the house. Weekends are usually slow & boring for me &
because of that it’s rare to find me home. Its either I will be with Litia &
his crew or at the graveyard. I took a quick bath then changed into my loose
Adidas sweatpants, a vest then a hoody with some Adidas sneaker not forgetting
my Adidas cap. I had a cornrow, I always have cornrow in my head but I was
planning to do dreadlocks. I walked out & Twanda was putting away the
buckets he had been using.
Me:
let's go
Him:
let's use the car
Me:
And the old lady? You know how she is...
Him:
it’s this once. let's go.
He
opened the passenger’s door for me. After a lot of hesitation I finally jumped
inside the car & so did he. We drove to the tuck-shop with the radio on
full blast.
The
tuck-shop was a street away, a five minutes’ walk. Getting there we got off &
Twanda went to buy the bread. As I looked around I saw a car park besides
mom's. Faith or whatever he calls himself got off the car. He smiled as he
walked towards me.
Him:
Hey
I
kept quite looking at Twanda who was now paying.
Him:
Still mute I see..
Twanda
finally came back.
Me:
We go?
Twanda:
Yes.
Faith:
hey..wait!
Me:
what's your problem?
Faith:
can we talk? for a sec?
Me:
I'm about to insult someone's mother! Nigga get lost!
Just
then I caught sight of Michelle. She was surrounded with her friends & they
were screaming. Slowly I walked up to them & what I saw was enough to
shrink my whole body. Her face had just changed, her eyes had rolled back. Her
dress was ripped. It was like something had possessed her.
I
walked over to her with Twanda who was now behind me.
Me:
Michelle!
She
turned to me.
She
let an involuntary loud scream before collapsing to the ground. I rushed over
to her, she wasn't moving, she was completely still. I tried feeling her pulse
with my shaking hands & I couldn't feel anything.
Me:
Michelle? baby?
I said
as I held her in my arms.
